Dermal Fillers Or Makeup For Indented Acne Scars?
By Trevor Mulholland
Just when you think acne was difficult to deal with, indented acne scars make life after pimples lot more challenging. People tend to think that scars that appear like little grooves on the skin are caused by irritation, like scraping or popping, but indented scars may appear even without external interference. A severe acne outbreak could result in lesions or deep scars - and more often than not, it would be extremely troublesome.

There are a couple of ways to deal with indented acne scars. Two of the more popular ways are dermal fillers or simple cosmetic coverup. Dermal fillers are normally recommended for more severe occurrences of acne scarring, although some argue that works just as well - and is much cheaper and more available besides.

Hollywood isn't the only place where you can hide little physical flaws using special effects! You can buy a good set of concealers, foundations, and the like - these are what some people would call "camouflage cosmetics." Knowledge of some techniques, such as the "color theory." would allow you to better use these items in the case of pigmented scars. The "color theory" states that there are some colors that cancel other colors out - for example, if you have a scar that is colored red, a concealer that is colored green would be able to hide it better than a concealer that is of any other color.

Another

technique you could use is "shading," which would help you draw away emphasis from the scarred portions of your face using that produces shades and highlights. The cosmetics that one could use in covering up acne scars vary with person to person. Even men can use cosmetics to cover up their facial scars, if they wish.

Sensitive or specially oily skin may be difficult to treat with makeup. Most may claim to be hypoallergenic, but your skin may still seek the quality of higher-end cosmetic items, once it has gotten used to them. Moreover, has to be used on a regular basis, and could be quite a burden on one's budget overall. It may be time to consider more expensive but longer-lasting and more efficient treatments if so. In the long run, you may be spending more for than you will be for dermal fillers.

Dermal fillers come in a variety of forms - silicon-based, calcium-based, hyaluronic acid, etc. Your doctor should be able to tell you the right kind of filler for the kind of indented acne scars that you have. However, dermal injections could cost anywhere from $300 to $2000 for every area of the skin treated, so if you are intent on getting a dermal filling, plan ahead so that you'll get the most out of your money. Alternatively, you can stick with makeup, and just make it a point to watch your budget when you do.
